وطـوطـوا أولادكـم لا ينفـع النـدم

A friend excused herself during a gathering saying that she had to go to dye her hair and have a new haircut, so another friend said teasing her: "Are you going to have delpilation as well? " . She laughed and replied: " No, I don't have hair on my body to wax."
"Lucky you!"
" ma ana ahli watwatooni, el mwatwatah doesn't usually have hair on her body you know"
"Yay, how nice! did they really remember to ywatwtooki?"

"Wait a minute!" I interrupted. "What is this word that you guys have just said?!"
"What word?"
"watwatooni?!"
"yeah, watwatooni"
"and what is that supposed to mean?"
"don't you know? watwatooni means that they slaughtered a bat when I was born and then had my body daubed with its blood. People do this to babies so that they have a smooth body"

Shocked of what I heard, I couldn't stop thinking of a scary bat being slaughtered and then having the poor baby's body stained with its blood.
This myth was to me so unheard of, while everybody else was obviously familiar with it. What about you? 7ada fekon twa6wa6? :D

Ya reit 7ada watwatni!!!!

Yeah, I have heard of it but always thought it is just a myth,I wasn't sure if it really works or not!! Ask them if it works only on new born, what about if we try it now?? loooooool :P

This is complete BS. It doesn't work like that.
It's a bad practice and people should really be careful what they put on the baby's sensitive skin. Blood from a filthy animal is not going to be a positive thing.

Same goes for people who put salt on baby's tender skin. It's just haram

People have hair based on their genes. It's not something that you lose or can alter like that. It's true that you can reduce it in better safer ways, but for god's sake, leave the babies alone

I had a friend, who was completely convinced that her hair problem was because her family forgot to "Watwitooha" and that made her life miserable! Truth is, I doubt this stuff even works in the first place

i heard that story before..and seems it is true..i don't know whats in the bats blood that keep hair from growing ..allaho a3lam..

but it feels like old rituals..witchcraft..

i did some search now and i can see that even in usa they know about this..maybe there i some kind of chemicals in bat's blood that stops hair from growing..

i am not in favor of that..what happens to the follicals

about the salt Qwaider..i heard that too..bemal7o il baby..maybe it goes back to cannibalism..for eating purposes..loool

I don't know anyone who had this practice done to her, but from what I hear from my mom, that her grandmother did that to her mom who I never got to meet, and that she was actually hair free..I always thought this should be an interesting thing for scientisits to study, maybe they can find an active ingredient and start selling it commercially..imagine the relief of all this waxing time and pain!
